CLAUSON Thierry

EXHIBITION

CLAUSON THIERRY

3D DIGITAL PAINTING

FROM MARCH 14 TO APRIL 26, 2024

Swiss artist, designer

Some of his work is done the old-fashioned way.

He makes sketches on paper

then concretizes them on his computer in 3D.

At the same time, he prepares his linen canvas on a stretcher and finally prints it on a giant printer.

With 40 years' experience in the world of communications, Thierry Clauson is an image-maker who is constantly on the lookout for new ideas. After classical training at the Arts Décoratifs and Beaux Arts in Geneva, he explored techniques that fused the aesthetics of painting, photography, cinema and press illustration. His curiosity is also evident in the fields in which he works.

He has been artistic director for events such as the 100th anniversary of the CEl in Berlin, the virtual reality development of an opera house for Cambridge University in London, and a record cover for Germaine Jackson (USA).

This exhibition is constructed as a perspective on his work as an artist. Like a narrative diagram, the subjects and techniques are articulated, allowing us to observe the various choices and inspirations of this artist who creates with the times.

In a society tending towards dematerialization, after charcoal, oil paint and airbrush,

Thierry Clauson is moving into digital art using 3D imagery. A unique sensibility and an attraction for singularity are the common threads that give rise to an offbeat universe all his own. On the one hand, a large-format fashion show on the H&M building in downtown Geneva; on the other, a joust in a futuristic Hong Kong or an imaginary city like KHAOS; as many works as opportunities to tell his own story.
